Wildlife

A quiet rural community, Watrous Manitou is host to a variety of wildlife. Whitetail deer and mule deer are the most common sightings and birdwatchers will be supprised at the number of species in the area. The Last Mountain Bird Sanctuary, a thirty-five minute drive, was in fact the first bird sanctuary in North America! Hunting is an important part of our ecosystem and from September through November, hunting waterfoul is permitted. Last Mountain Lake and a series of smaller bodies of water are host to a number and variety of ducks and geese. Ducks unlimited is active in the area to ensure that waterfoul populations are well maintained.
